Ryan and I took a little pit stop on our trip from Romania to Switzerland, in Budapest, Hungary! We had 20 hours to squeeze in as much as we possibly could before we jumped on our next train.
We stayed at The Intercity Hotel, which was right next to the train station. We dropped our luggage and went out on the town for breakfast! We ate at La Lune Café (highly recommended - it was super cute and the service was excellent!) and then started our exploration! We strolled through City Park and admired Vajdahunyad Castle.

Then, we made our way to the Szechenyi bath. Fun fact about Budapest... It's the spa capital of the world! We're glad we tried the baths, but overall, it was crowded and expensive.
We ditched the baths to go to my favorite part of our trip... Budapest's Christmas Market! It was the best Christmas market we've seen so far - beautiful, enormous and so well done. The dessert selection was out of this world: macarons, cake pops, fancy chocolate-covered marshmallows, traditional Hungarian pastries and so much more. I loved it so much, I made a reel about it on Instagram.

After consuming too much sugar, we walked along the waterfront and looked at the exceptional Hungarian Parliament Building. This is one of the most impressive buildings I have ever seen and at night it's even more spectacular! We also stopped to see the Shoes on the Danube - a memorial for the Jews massacred in Budapest in WWII (pictured below).

We ate a quick dinner at Belgian Brasserie where we each enjoyed a fabulous chicken breast stuffed with avocado and then we called it a night. We ended a bit early so we could get some good rest before catching a 6:40 am train in the morning.
Onward to our home for the winter... Switzerland!!
